Birthday Party!!!!

This journal entry is WAAY over due, but for good reason.  We have been a little busy with our new beautiful baby girl.  Loralei Louise DeForest came into this world at 11:45pm on April 2nd.  She had quite a 24 hour labor story....

Friday morning when I woke up I just felt different.  My lower back was really hurting, and by lunch time at work, my low abdomen was really tight.  I called Dave and told him, just FYI stay close to your phone.  He brushed it off and told me to keep him posted.  By 2pm at work I felt pretty crummy so I headed home, packed a bag for the night and headed to my parents house to take it easy.  I ate dinner with mom, dad, and Courtney at El Mocajete, and decided to pay Vanessa a visit.  Once at Vanessa's I had an odd sensation, I even thought, did my water just break?  I brushed it off as 9 months pregnant and headed home.  Once back at mom and dad's I mentioned I thought something was up.  Mom read online to lay down and if your water did break, it will let you know pretty quick.  Man was she right.  At 10:45pm on April 1st, just like that, my water broke and mom, dad, and I were on our way to Baptist.  After getting to Baptist, we learned yes, my water did break, but I was not in active labor, so they started a Pitocin drip, and the waiting game began.  Dave made it to the hospital around 2am.  I made little to no progress until they gave me an epidural to "relax" me around 12pm April 2nd, from here I progressed a little, but nothing earth shattering.  Loralei was a rock star the whole time, her vitals showed no stress or harm, so Dave and I decided we would give it a few more hours before throwing in the towel and doing a c-section.    At 7:30pm my doctor gave us 1 hour to complete dilation or we were headed to the OR.  Wouldn't you know it in 60 min I was complete and the 3 hour pushing game began.

Like any good epidural, mine wore off about 10 minutes before I started to push. Anesthesia gave me a push of a pain killer that wore off 1.5 hours later. SUPER, so I pushed for another 30 minutes before my doctor called to prep an OR for a c-section.  Loralei decided to turn a corner at this point, so we kept pushing.  (Let me state that my husband is the most amazing man in the whole world, he was my cheerleader, support system, and he held his breath and pushed with me every time.  He kept me going when I just had nothing left).  FINALLY at 11:45 we were done, every minute, hour, and pain was worth it.  We had our baby girl, and she was perfect.  She had her daddy's dimples, and my smile.  It was the hardest thing I have ever done, but by far the most rewarding.

We are head over heels in love with her, and I have no idea what we ever did without her.  For all those that have sent sweet messages, paid us a visit, or made food Thank you!  We couldn't have made it this first week without you.

Dave will be headed back sometime this week so keep us in your prayers as we prepare to be separated, and the emotional toll that will take on the 3 of us.
